Itinerary
Meet at the SALTY DESERT office and depart in a 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser or Nissan Patrol.
Train Cemetery: Visit the old rusting locomotives from Bolivia’s mining past.
Colchani Village: Learn about salt processing and see the artisanal salt refinery and iodization process.
Enter the Uyuni Salt Flats, the world’s largest salt desert.
See the salt piles (small salt pyramids) and observe local salt mining.
Visit the Salt Eyes, natural openings where subterranean water rises to the surface.
Arrive at Playa Blanca, the original salt hotel now operating as a museum. (Lunch included)
Enjoy creative and perspective photos in the middle of the salt flats.
Continue to Incahuasi Island, famous for its giant cacti and panoramic views.
